The City as Forest residency program offers immersion for research and experimentation, meant for artists and scientists interested in developing their work in the urban environment of Rio de Janeiro.
City as Forest is a speculative project that brings city and forest together, acknowledging both as complex, collaborative and communicative ecosystems. The project’s starting point is the knowledge about forests,
the lives of trees, fungi, and the networks that connect them. The project seeks to inspire new ways to organize flows, promote gatherings and mediate conflicts in cities, rethinking our ways of building, carrying out and managing urban life.
The residency program will be organized in 2022, in its first edition, by the Goethe-Institut in Rio de Janeiro, the Museum of Tomorrow, Swissnex in Brazil and Pro Helvetia South America. This initiative is a follow-up to the online Think Tank created in 2021 by the Goethe-Institut. It will take place between May 16 and June 4 2022, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
